Rainbows End is a community charity shop based on Spital Hill in the Burngreave area of Sheffield. We opened in December 2008.
The shop is staffed by volunteers – come in and have a chat if you would like to volunteer and support your community.
Our founding Aims are:
To develop a retail outlet and resource based on a local community shop run by local people for the benefit of local people and valuing people’s identity, culture and beliefs. Some of our Aims are;
· To create a sustainable local retail unit that sells good quality second hand merchandise,
· Support other community initiatives through any profits made
· Provide a variety of volunteering opportunities for people who reflect Burngreave’s
diverse community, including Asylum Seekers and Refugees
· To value the existing skills of those involved and encourage the development of other
skills that could be of economic, educational or social benefit
· Provide a safe space where local residents can meet and build relationships
The objects of the Charity (‘the Objects’) are: (as in our Charitable Status Conditions)
2.1 the relief of unemployment for the benefit of the public in such ways as may be thought fit including the provision of training and work experience and assistance to find employment;
2.2 the prevention or relief of poverty by the provision of grants and financial assistance to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.
